Instructions for authors
It is assumed that paper offered for publishing is not being offered to another journal and that it was not published (including publishing on the Internet).
The Editorial Board of Law and Security accepts only contributions in Czech, Slovak or English. Text in other languages can't be published (the author must provide a translation into one of the languages listed above).
Articles published in the Law and Security have the nature of original articles, discussion papers (including reports from scientific conferences) or reviews.
Original articles shouldn't be longer than 20 PC pages (Times New Roman 12, single line spacing). An abstract must be added to the article (max. 150 words) with keywords (6-8 words), both in Czech and English (Slovak and English).
The discussion papers (including reports from scientific conferences) should not exceed 10 PC pages (Times New Roman 12, simple line spacing).
The maximum range of reviews for domestic and foreign publications is 5 PC pages (Times New Roman 12, single line spacing). In addition to summarizing the content of the publication, the review should also include the author / author's own review of the reviewed work.
Each paper goes through 2 rounds of peer review.
In the first, pre-evaluation round, the Editorial office and Editorial Board assess the fulfillment of the minimum requirements for the inclusion of an article in the standard peer review process. The main criteria, based on which the contribution is assessed, include the thematic relevance (whether the contribution corresponds to the thematic focus of the Journal of Law and Security), the formal and technical requirements - compliance with the citation, the language level (whether the contribution does not include severe language flaws) and other standards according to the sample article . The outcome of the first round of the peer review process may be:
- the article is accepted and moves to the second round of the review procedure;
- the article is accepted with reservation and may be included in the second round, if the author eliminates shortcomings;
- the article is not accepted and cannot be included in the second round of the review procedure.
In the second round, the paper is anonymously reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. The result of each of the testimonies may be threefold:
- the article can be published without reservations,
- the article can be published, if the author performs content or/and formal modifications,
- the article is not recommended for publication.
If the paper receives a positive and negative evaluation, third reviewer or the Editorial Board and/or the Editorial office (one of these options is chosen by the Editorial office) will decide if the article can be published.
The author will receive the result of the peer review electronically.
The final decision to publish articles is the exclusively responsibility of the Editorial Board. There is no legal entitlement to publish the contribution.
