Instructions for authors and reviewers

Instructions for authors

It is assumed that paper offered for publishing is not being offered to another journal and that it was not published (including publishing on the Internet).

The Editorial Board of Law and Security accepts only contributions in Czech, Slovak or English. Text in other languages can't be published (the author must provide a translation into one of the languages listed above).

Dear authors, please follow the formal rules for editing texts in Law and Security - sample article (pdf a doc).

Articles published in the Law and Security have the nature of original articles, discussion papers (including reports from scientific conferences) or reviews.

We accept texts processed in Word format in electronic form delivered by e-mail. Please send your contributions to pravoabezpecnost@ambis.cz. Recommended length of one paper is up to 15 standard pages, font Times New Roman, size 12. One standard page corresponds to 1 800 characters including spaces and footnotes. References should be made in the form of footnotes on the relevant page in font size 10. Each contribution must be provided with a title, author's name at the beginning and a title, annotations and keywords in Czech (Slovak) and English at the end. At the very end of the article, provide an alphabetical list of the literature used and the author's place of work with the address, including the electronic address.

Each paper goes through 2 rounds of peer review.

In the first, pre-evaluation round, the Editorial office and Editorial Board assess the fulfillment of the minimum requirements for the inclusion of an article in the standard peer review process. The main criteria, based on which the contribution is assessed, include the thematic relevance (whether the contribution corresponds to the thematic focus of the Journal of Law and Security), the formal and technical requirements - compliance with the citation, the language level (whether the contribution does not include severe language flaws) and other standards according to the sample article . The outcome of the first round of the peer review process may be:

  1. the article is accepted and moves to the second round of the review procedure;
  2. the article is accepted with reservation and may be included in the second round, if the author eliminates shortcomings;
  3. the article is not accepted and cannot be included in the second round of the review procedure.

In the second round, the paper is anonymously reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. The result of each of the testimonies may be threefold:

    1. the article can be published without reservations,
    2. the article can be published, if the author performs content or/and formal modifications,
    3. the article is not recommended for publication.

If the paper receives a positive and negative evaluation, third reviewer or the Editorial Board and/or the Editorial office (one of these options is chosen by the Editorial office) will decide if the article can be published.

The author will receive the result of the peer review electronically.

The final decision to publish articles is the exclusively responsibility of the Editorial Board. There is no legal entitlement to publish the contribution.
